Manchester United: Three Key Midfielders Sidelines due to injury
Manchester United was already out without the French midfielder Pogba, who will be out for few weeks due to injury. Now Mourinho has confirmed that Micheal Carrick and Marouane Fellaini have joined the injury list.
Micheal Carrick and Marouane Fellaini will not be travelling to Moscow for the Champions League fixture.
Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference: “We don’t have Fellaini, we don’t have Pogba, we don’t have Carrick. They are all missing for this match.
“So the solutions are not many, but we try not to focus on individual battles or in specific areas on the pitch.
“We try to focus on the globality and we try to have a team with quality, balance, to try and win the match, which is our objective.”
The Belgium international Fellaini picked up an injury against Southampton in the premier league. He picked up ankle injury following a challenge from Shane Long.
The midfielder is expected to miss a match against Crystal Palace.
“It could be a much worse situation, but in a moment where we don’t have Pogba and Carrick, Marouane becomes even more important than he always is.
“Not to be here tomorrow is a difficult situation for us. I expect Fellaini not to be out for a long time. After Crystal Palace, there is an international break.
“Belgium was the first team to qualify, so no pressure for a special big match with Belgium. Hopefully, he’ll be back for us.”
It will be difficult 90 minutes against CSKA Moscow, the Russian would feel to face depleted Manchester United side.
