The first ever Intercontinental Cup will feature host India, New Zealand, Chinese Taipei and Kenya. It is one of the important tournament for India ahead of their Asian Cup preparation but seems like New Zealand will not take this tournament seriously.

All Whites set to announce their squad for the tournament and according to popular New Zealand online portal stuff.co.nz major names expected to miss the trip to India. Chris Wood is a big name and well known among Indian fans, the Burnley forward is expected to miss the tournament. This is a big set back for the fans in India o witness a premier league player playing against Indian team.

Winston Ried is another big name who will be missing from the squad. West Ham United defender had suffered a season ending injury in March. Other misses will be from the Major League Soccer, Kip Colvey, Jake Gleeson, Stefan Marinovic (currently injured), Tommy Smith, Bill Tuiloma and Deklan Wynne will be busy with their MLS commitments.

Apart from these names, some European based clubs also set to miss the tournament in May. Jeremy Brockie, Marco Rojas, Michael McGlinchey, Ryan Thomas and Themi Tzimopoulos are some of the key players who most likely to miss the tournament.

It will be interesting to see the team which will travel to India. Fritz Schmid likely to call the player from the domestic circuit and few youngsters.
