After having won the Toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first and lost Dickwella early in the innings. Munaweera and Tharanga too departed within the first 10 overs. Thirimanne and Matthews then put on a solid 122 run partnership. Sri Lanka had set a good platform at 185/3 and

Sri Lanka had set a good platform at 185/3 and was looking set for a good score before Thirimanne was dismissed by Bhuvaneswar Kumar. India’s bowling change helped get rid of Mathews and all of a sudden Sri Lanka were reduced to 205/6. The lower order never managed to hang on for long and was Bowled out for 238 with Bhuvaneswar Kumar finishing with 5 wickets. India Had it easy

This was the first time in the history of Indian Cricket that India played with 2 specialist wrist spinners in an ODI.

In the second innings, India lost both openers in quick succession.

Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey put on 99 runs for the third wicket. Sri Lanka never looked like coming into the match, but Manish Pandey’s dismissal games them a bit of hope.

Virat Kohli got to his 30th ODI century, only the third man to do so in the limited overs format. Kedar Jadhav scored a good knock off 63, a performance which he badly needed to keep himself in the team.

India got to their target with 21 balls to spare to complete a clean sweep of this tour, becoming the first team to whitewash Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

Bhuvi Finally Got His 5

Bhuvaneswar Kumar hadn’t taken a single wicket in the series so far, but had a good day today, picking up 5 wickets, and was adjudged the Man of the match.
Jasprit Bumrah has adjudged Mn of the Series.
India hosts the Aussies in a couple of weeks time, and the series surely won’t be as easy as this.
