How can Manchester United save their season

The last few season of the United fans hasn’t bit a great, they have given a lot of hopes, spend loads of money but end result has been poor. With Manchester City cruising towards their Premier title, only a trophy can save Manchester United’s season. With Premier league title well and truly gone, Jose Mourinho targets Champions League and FA Cup trophies. Manchester United’s next 5-6 days could decide whether they will end with a trophy or not.

Rivals Manchester City are 16 points clear at the top and second position doesnt hold a significant place looking at their squad. Last season Manchester United finished 6th in the league however they finished with two major trophies-EFL cup and the Europa League.Winning the Europa league gave them an automatic entry to the UEFA Champions League.

The only two competitions which can save Manchester United’s season are FA Cup and Champions League.

FA Cup run

On saturday, Manchester United travel to the stadium where they faced their first league defeat of the season. Untill that match They were just two points behind their rivals.Huddersfield kind of broke Manchester United’s momentum. They have always seemed to be shaky since that match.

It is a potentially tricky draw but progression would ensure United are only one match away from a return to Wembley and earlier eliminations of Arsenal and Liverpool has opened up the competition to each of their respective top-six rivals.

Champions League success??

Four days later, Manchester United play Sevilla who have won six European trophies since 2006. Manchester United travel to the Andalusian capital of Seville to face the spanish side. Manchester United and Sevilla haven’t met each other in competitive competitions. Sevilla have played a below par football and sit 6th in the table and could possibly miss out on European spot.

This looks like another winnable encounter for Jose’s men. There is no doubt Manchester United have a team to compete with European giants, no one can discount them as title contenders. Manchester United looks like a improved side and sit second in the premier league table which is much better then their last 4 campaigns.

Manchester United winning Champions League seems to be a bit difficult considering the teams they will have to go through. Manchester City looks like will love to win Champions League trophy so can we have Manchester Derby in the Champions League finals? That would perfect ending for the season where the City and the United have looked a different unit in Europe.

Money Matters

Manchester United have the second biggest spend in England and it is not acceptable to trail Manchester City by 16 points, neither were their performances in the recent woeful defeats at Tottenham and Newcastle. The club is subject to intense scrutiny and problems are often amplified but there are clear questions to be asked of Mourinho and his players if they come up empty-handed this season.

Signing Alexis Sanchez has brought the tempo back in the team but they have lost two league matches out of three since his arrival. Mkhitaryan has shown some kind of form after joining Arsenal which he never found at Manchester United after the first three league matches. There have been amid speculations that Paul Pogba may leave Manchester United for Real Madrid and regrets his decision joining Manchester United. But Jose confirmed that everything is fine between himself and Pogba and has mentioned that Pogba’s bad form has kept him out of the starting 11.

The League title is out of reach but can United win a cup trophy or perhaps reach final of Champions Leauge to save their season?
