Goa chief ministry Manohar Parrikar has blamed Goa football association (GFA) for their stubborn stand, which resulted in not having a single Goan player in the national squad for FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, India.
The GFA officials have ego issue with the All Indian football federation where they boycotted the trials organized for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017.
Goa Football Association’s Ego Reason Behind No Goans in U-17 World Cup Team: Parrikar
Talking about Goa football Association Manohar Parrikar has to say this ” The GFA should not have boycotted the U-17 world cup trials, two years back under erstwhile Indian coach Nicolai Adam. I believe World Cup should have been above ego issues. Because of the tussle, there is no (Goan) player in the U-17 team”. While speaking at the Dilip Sardesai Awards of excellence in sports.
It is no secret that GFA and AIFF were on the opposite fronts, the officials on both the sides are the fault for the opportunity missed by the talented players from Goa. Indian team would have been much stronger with the influx of players from football powerhouse like Goa.
The current regime at GFA has been failed again and again uplifting the local top division league. They have been failed to secure the title sponsor for Goa Pro league since they came in the office. The previous regime under Srinivas Dempo had a smooth run in the Goa football association. Ths current executive committee has to think above their ego’s and start taking decision rationally.
