The FIFA U-17 World Cup will have numerous teams which will be making their debut in the tournament along with the host India.
New Caledonia an OFC team will be making their debut in the tournament. probably Indian never even heard of that name before the tournament draw was released. The team does not have a known his history in the world of football. This will be their first major tournament appearance.
They should be thankful for the FIFA for granted 2 slots for OFC nations in the U-17 world cup. They qualified for the U-17 world cup as the runner up of OFC U-17 championship.

Best Performances At U-17 Level

The New Caledonians are new entrants to the football arena but they did manage to reach finals of OFC U-17 championship back in 2003. Back in days, OFC had just one slot so the winner was only qualification slot for the U-17 World Cup. This U-17 tournament will be their first major opportunity to showcase their footballing talent to the world.


New Caledonians play 4-2-3-1 formation with forwarding playing the role of target men. They do not really rely too much on building play but they are more of the team which shoots when they see the target. Their majority of goals in U-17 OFC championship came through a hopefully strikes.

Player To Watch Out

Abiezer Jeno is one of the few New Caledonian players who has sound technique. The captain was a key player in holding his defense tight. New Caledonia is not known to have prolific in front of goal but it is their defense under Jeno which guided them to the finals of OFC championship. He will be one to watch out for this team in the U-17 world cup.

New Caledonia is in Group E with France, Japa, and Honduras. They definitely will find it hard to face oppositions in the U-17 world cup. This should be a good experience for the team and hopefully will inspire New Caledonian football.
