Guinea is going to make the 5th appearances at the 2017 U17 world cup. They first qualified in 1985 where they finished 4th and went out in the group stages on the other occasions.
They have qualified for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations on 6 occasions and have finished third three times, most recently in 2017.
At the 2017 world cup, Guinea is placed along with heavyweights Germany, Iran, and Costa Rica. Guinea will have to fight it hard to make themselves contenders for going through to the next round.

Guinea entered the Qualification for AFCON 2017 in the second round, where they won on penalties against Morocco after coming from behind in both the legs. They won the third round 2-1 on aggregate to book themselves a place in the tournament finals.
At AFCON 2017, they were grouped with Ghana, Cameroon and hosts Gabon. They thumped the hosts 5-1 with Djibril Fandje Toure scoring a hat-trick.
They drew the next two games vs Ghana to qualify for the Semi Finals. They lost the semi finals against eventually Champions Mali but won the third place match against fellow world cup participants Niger.
Guinea scored 9 goals in 5 matches at U17 AFCON 2017 and conceded just one. They are a team who always look for more goals.

Djibril Fandje Toure won the U17 AFCON golden boot with 6 goals, which included a hat-trick. Captain Eric Ayiah scored 4 goals in 3 games at U17 AFCON 2017. The defensive midfielder has gained a lot of praise from his coach Gerrard Sella Bangoura plays for AS St Etienne youth team
