FC Goa handed Kerala Blasters second defeat in a row

FC Goa continued their dominance on Kerala Blasters. The Goan side had better win percentage against Blasters which got extended with a 1-2 victory.

FC Goa started with similar starting XI except for Sergio Juste in place of Bruno Pinheiro. They were in control from the start, they could take lead inside first 5 minutes when Manuel Lanzarote well-placed shot hit the crossbar. Coro did not make the Goans fans wait for long, the leading goal scorer of the league clinical finish inside the 6 yard gave Goa the lead. Brandon started the move with nice through ball for Mandar, the later did not put a foot wrong in finding Coro.

Goa was in control entire match except for a poor play by Kattimani. His mistimed goal kick found Wes Brown who headed the ball to Siam Hangal who just flicked it to CK Vineeth. The favourite player of the Kerala Blaster slot ball past Kattimani. Even though Kerala Blasters cancelled the lead, it was Goa who looked in control.

The second half began with again Goa dominated possession. They looked more threatening than the home side, it took them 75minute of the match to regain the lead. Brandon again with a perfect delivery from the corner found Edu Bedia. The Spainaird powerful header found its way into Kerala Blaster goal.

Goans after taking the lead controlled the proceedings. Playing their usual passing game and keeping the possession. Unlike in the past, the defence played a good football. Kerala Blasters tried to cancel out the lead in the added minutes of the match but the resolute Goan defence held their nerves to earn full three points.

Goa now has 19 points in 10 matches, they have played a game less than the other 3 teams in the top 4. Kerala Blasters remained at 7th place with 14 points. The Blasters next host Delhi Dynamos on 27th of January while Goa will host Mumbai on 28th of January.
