Burnley will be gearing up for the upcoming season to survive another season in the top flight. They finished 16th last season and with the kind of constraints they face, it was a successful season as they avoided the dreaded drop. This season will be no different and will try to stay afloat. The major factor to their survival was their home form which fetched than 33 out of the 40 points they earned. But this season will be much tougher, and to ensure survival, the Clarets will have to pick up more points away from Turf Moor. They have made a couple of important signings to strengthen their defense. They had a very good pre-season which should give them a good amount of confidence going only to the first match day versus defending champions, Chelsea.
Goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Nick Pope
Tom Heaton was one of the major factors in the Clarets survival in the Premier League last season. The same will be expected of him this season and Nick Pope will play as backup after Joey Barton was slapped with a ban due to betting
Defenders: Matthew Lowton, Charlie Taylor, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Stephen Ward, Phil Bardsley, Kevin Long, Tom Anderson.
New recruit Charlie Taylor will be a very good addition to their defense but will be the second choice to the experienced Stephen Ward.
James Tarkowski and Kevin Long will hold on to their center back positions.
Midfielders: Jack Cork, Dean Marney, Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick, Steven Defour, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood, Frederick Ulvestad, Scott Arfield
The addition of Jack Cork will certainly strengthen the Clarets defensive midfield. Robbie Brady and Ashley Westwood are key players in the Burnley midfield. They were decent last season and look to continue their good run in the premier league.
Forwards: Andre Gray, Sam Vokes, Ashley Barnes, Dan Agyei, Jonathan Walters
Sam Vokes was the top scorer for the Clarets with 10 goals and more goals will be expected from all their forwards. Sam Vokes have to start well, he is a slow starter and getting a good start in first few matches will do the world of good for him.
Burnley will struggle in the premier league this season, they squad lack debt needed for the premier league this season. They will have to play out of their skin to produce goods for the team.
