AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers: India Face War Torn Yemen

India U-19 the last outing was a disaster and they would love to forget that as soon as possible. The Indian team had to face 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Saudi Arabia. The defeat has made the qualification to the finals an uphill task. India will now face Yemen at the same venue.

AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers: A test of determination

India next match against Yemen is not just a test of determination for the blue tigers but also the Yemenis. The match is vital for both the teams, India will look to bounce back in the qualifiers while Yemen would try to enhance their chances for the qualification.

India chances of going to the AFC U-19 Championship in Indonesia is bit slim, they will need to beat Yemen with a huge goal margin. Yemen on another hand would look to carry their form against India and score few goals to help their goal difference tally.

Both the teams have not been a part of AFC U-19 Championship for a while. India after their World Cup experience had a high expectation to qualify for the tournament but the first match drubbing has been a major jolt.

Yemenis lads, unlike India, come from an amateur league setup. The professional league has been suspended due to civil war in the country for over a 3 years now. A good showing not only will help them earn their AFC U-19 Championship place but also respect around the world. The match will show the hunger and determination of both the sides.

Yemen have won their last match 3-0 against Turkeministan and a similar result will give them an extra cushion to qualify for the finals.

India has plenty to ponder after the drubbing at the hands of the host. They look completely out of sorts and a defeat against Yemen will be a big blow to their confidence. There will be the host of changes in the starting XI, Amarjit Singh expected to make his return in the starting XI after the midfield look completely clueless.
